30 Days of Prayer- Day 14- His heart

We talked yesterday about your husband’s physical and emotional health. Today, I want to pray for his heart. There are a few specific areas to pray for that are important for a healthy heart. We will cover all four in our prayer today.

Day 14- Praying for your husband’s heart to be full

The 4 things that I pray for my husband to have are:

1) Joy in his heart

2) Peace in his heart

3) Love

and

4) Hope

1. Joy is the something we seek when we are feeling sad, or emotionally drained. We crave that feeling of fullness, the happiness in our hearts that joy can bring. When things have been difficult in our lives, it feels like joy is so illusive. If your husband is going through a hard time, pray that God brings joy to his life. If he is doing well, thank God for giving him a joyful life.

2. Peace is something to pray that your husband can have in his heart too. We spoke about praying for peace in our own lives in day four, and your husband needs it too. If there are things that he worries about, or things that he is working through, you can ask God to help give him peace in his heart. We can pray for peace over his environment too. Ask God for peace at his workplace, peace in his home, peace in his friendships, and peace in his marriage.

In Philippians, Paul says:

“The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 4:5b-7

3. Knowing that God loves us is one of the greatest gifts we can receive. Feeling love from the people we care about makes our heart feel full too. Today, pray that your husband feels loved. Ask God to show him that he is loved and that he is valued. Pray that your husband feels that love, and that he has opportunities to show it to others. Also, showing love to our husbands is a gift we are honored to have as his wife. Pray that God helps you to show love to your husband often and in many different ways. Because we see him every day, we have unique opportunities to bless him with that gift.

4. Hope is so important in life. In hope, we have this amazing gift of ‘future.’ When we live our lives with hope in what the future holds, we can focus on what we will become. We can focus on where we are going, and we know there is so much of our life out in front of us. Without hope in our hearts, we can feel diminished.

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.”¹ Proverbs 13:12

Pray that your husband enjoys the hope in what lies ahead and that God shows him a new vision for what is coming up in his life.

For all of us, we all have an eternal hope through Jesus’ death and resurrection:

“He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”¹ 1 Peter 1:20-21

If there are specific prayer needs for your husband today, add them to your personal prayer tailored just for him.

My prayer today:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for my husband. He is such an incredible blessing. I am praying for his heart today. Give him joy that is abundant. Lord, I pray for a stillness to wash over him, and that you reveal to him the beauty of the world around him and fill his heart with joy. Bring peace in his life wherever he needs it. You know his heart. Help him to know he is loved. Reveal your heart towards him today. I ask that you forgive me for any hurtful words I have spoken over him, and I ask that you reverse any negative words that he has heard from me. Forgive me for not always loving him the way that you love me. I ask that you continue to build him up. Show him his value. Help him to see himself the way that you do. Finally Lord, I ask that you show him what you have for his future. His present is here, and we thank you for that. I ask that you give him the vision you have for him, to give him the hope for what is coming up next. Thank you Father for always hearing my prayers. Bless my husband today, In Jesus’ name,

Amen

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”¹  1 Corintians 13:13
