30 Days of Prayer- Day 3- Physical Health

Day 3- Prayer over your physical health

Today I want to focus on physical health. Our bodies play an important part in what we do every day. If we are tired, feeling worn out, or we are in pain, the whole day is a little harder. About 6 months ago, I took a break from my normal wellness routine because I had a lot of extra things going on in my life. Within a few weeks, I felt myself start to feel sluggish and less motivated. I started to feel my clothes getting a little tighter, and I noticed that I was thirsty all the time and craving junk food. I hadn’t been doing any physical activity and I had been eating on the run way too much.

I recognized that my ability to get things done was changing (and not in a good way) and I knew I needed to fix it.

I am a huge fan of calorie rich coffee drinks, I enjoy bakery items (especially if there is whipped cream involved), and I really love pasta. Unfortunately, those things can be a problem if I am not careful. I have to really watch it. Sugar and flour make me feel awful if I overdo it, and I need to be very aware of my overall intake. Right now, I am working on finding the right balance between working out, and eating the things I love. I’ve found that I can have some of those things, but I need to stay active and that’s the trade off.

So let me just put this out there…this is a judgement free space and I totally get it if you have the same problems.

And God knows how you feel too, so you can ask Him for guidance in these areas as well.

The things I just described are things I can make choices about. I know people who have challenges with their bodies that they have little control over, and if that’s the case with you, I encourage you to pray daily that God helps you do what you can, and sends people into your life to help you with the things you can’t do for yourself. If you need healing from a diagnosis, I encourage you to write down a consistent prayer and pray it every day, if not more than once a day.

And remember:

God hears you, and He loves you, whatever you are going through.

I watched a close family member go through years of his life when he couldn’t do simple tasks like rake leaves or shovel snow without intense pain. There came a point in time when those kinds of things became a serious problem for him.

He met a trainer at the gym who told him he could help him, and he decided to listen. It is truly amazing what happened over the next two years. In his case, he made the decision to make some major changes and I am happy to say that he is living mostly pain free now, and there is a remarkable difference in what he can do every day.

The transformation that happened for him was truly a miracle.

I wholeheartedly believe that God put that trainer in his path for that purpose and it was an incredible blessing.

If you are working through a tough time in your life when you need help getting to a healthier place, pray today that God shows you the steps you can take and that He puts people into your life that can help you.

If you are working through a major health problem or are currently living with a diagnosis, today is a good day to pray for God’s help in that area. Pray that God gives you the wisdom to do what you should do, and that the right people are part of your solution. I know from personal experience, that the people we work with can make such a difference in how things progress when faced with health challenges. I have been so blessed by people I have met in hospitals and doctor’s offices, and they really are amazing. I pray that, if you are facing a serious health issue, you meet the right people and you are lifted up and supported by the team God has placed around you.

The challenges people face when they are dealing with a difficult health problem can be very draining.

If you know someone who is faced with a serious health issue, today is a good opportunity to pray for them as well.

If you are healthy, take the time to thank God for that. Pray that He continues to bless you with a healthy body and the ability to stay active in the future.

Dear God,

Wherever we are, you see us, you know us, and you are always with us. I ask today that you protect my health, and keep my body strong and functioning well. I ask for your help with my eating habits and ask that you help me to make good choices and give me will-power when I need to say no. I ask for opportunities to exercise and the motivation to keep doing it. I also ask that you protect my body and protect my health from sickness, injury and disease.  Thank you for everything you provide for us to keep our bodies strong, and thank you for the body that I have. I ask you for continued health in the years to come.

Amen
