30 Days of Prayer- Day 30- Your Future

We have come to the final day of the “30 Days of Prayer” series.

I hope you have enjoyed coming along and praying together! We’ve covered a lot about your personal well-being, your family and friends, your close surroundings, and even prayed for the world around us.

Today, for the final post in the series, let’s pray about what is next in our lives.

Day 30- Praying about your future

Last time, we prayed about the gifts you have, the things you are good at, and the things you feel you are called to do in this world. So, today let’s embrace what is next and pray about the future.

The future is full of new ideas, fun experiences, and all sorts of things that God has in store for you.

For many of us, it’s so exciting to think of what might be coming. Maybe you have something new happening in your life soon. It could be that a long awaited change is coming and it leads to a place that you’ve been preparing for for a long time.

For others, the future is a little more unknown, with unanswered questions and even fear. Either way, it is important to remember that God is your refuge. God is the one who will be there, just like He has been there all of your life.

Like some of you, the future is a bit of a question mark.

I am going through a season of change. My kids are ready to be on their own, and can take care of their day to day business without too much oversight from me. It’s very different. Some things about this season I really like, and others, I’m praying for help in accepting.

Things are different right now than I thought they would be. Some of the things I thought I would be doing I’m not, and some things I didn’t ever imagine doing, I am.

One thing is certain, God is always in control.

God knows what is going on in your life and what is ahead of you.

If you are in a season of transition, and you are feeling a bit out of control, pray that God helps you find peace. Whether things are really clear, or you aren’t sure what is next for you, He IS sure, and He does know what is coming. He can help you build excitement for your next phase or can calm any uncertainty you may have.

For some people I know, the future is a scary place, filled with questions and anxious thoughts.

For any number of reasons, sometimes people are afraid to move forward. Sometimes, they are afraid of what may happen to them in their future. For some, it is because they have challenges in their lives, and they wonder if things will ever be restored. Sometimes, people are even afraid that God will allow things in their lives that are bad. Let’s pray together today that you can keep your faith in God, and that you can move forward with a trusting heart, no matter what you are feeling inside.

I want to help someone today. I am going to be very honest with you. I am sometimes afraid to get excited about the future too.

As we get older, we have things in our past that we wished for and they didn’t come. We also have things that have happened that took us by surprise. Some were good, and some were very difficult.

The surprises and slow-downs, “not quite yets” and “maybe eventuallys” sometimes make me feel afraid to invest my mind and heart into the future.

Do you ever feel that way?

That’s why it is so important to remember to put our hope in God.

The thing is, God is not a party planner. We don’t just get to decide what life will look like and set it in motion. He knows what’s best for us.

He, above all else, stays steady in the time of transition. He is there, steadfast in the time of waiting. He, no matter what we do, no matter what we feel, and no matter if we notice Him in our lives or not, is there.

He is the “always.”

Our future will always include our God. He will always be standing there, cheering us on, pushing us into things that are new because He knows that we can handle it. He will always be there when things are hard, when we doubt our abilities, and when we think we have nothing left.

He will be the one who will lovingly say, “I know you can do it, because I made you for it.”

So, let’s take hold of the future today.

I pray today that I remember to see God in my everyday.

His love is steadfast, and He wants the best for us. Let us continue to pray about what is coming next in our lives. Let’s continue to keep our eyes on Him as provider, comforter, loving father, and caretaker.

The future has God in it. So, we can trust what is coming next, no matter what.

My personal prayer for today:

Dear God,

Thank you for never leaving me. Thank you for always being with me in every season. Today, I pray that you help me to embrace the future. Help me to remember that you are trustworthy. God, I ask you to guide my steps. Help me to know what is the right direction and help me to live every moment to the fullest. Thank you for the blessings of all the good times in my life and helping me through the difficult times too. I thank you for the lessons that life has taught me, and the wisdom that I have gotten from all the different choices I have made in my life.

Calm my heart in my times of fear. Help me to lift my concerns up to you, and help me to leave them with you so I can be present in my life every day.

I ask you to protect and guide me as I move forward into new things in my life, and ask you to give me the strength and the courage to do what is asked of me.

Lord, thank you for the gift of these last 30 days. Thank you for reminding me every day that you are with me.

Amen
