Hope for the Hurting Relationship with God

30 Days of Prayer- Day 7- Physical Healing

We talked about healing our hearts in day 5, but now I would like to encourage you to pray for a different kind of healing. We discussed praying over our physical health earlier as well, but today, I’d like to encourage you to pray for physical healing.

Day 7- Prayer for healing in your body

I am not a doctor, and I don’t have any medical expertise, but I believe prayer is an amazing gift that we are given.

If you don’t have a specific need for healing right now, please take a moment to write down a few people you know who could use healing in their bodies, and pray for them today.

If you are dealing with any kind of health crisis, it is so important to pray. When we think of someone in need of healing, we often think of someone in a hospital somewhere. While this may be the case for some people, the need for physical healing can sometimes include things that we have learned to deal with day to day. I think that even heartburn is a consistent enough problem for some people to be worth asking for healing! If something you live with is a daily issue, remember, those are things that we can ask for prayer over too.

Don’t be foolish and stop listening to a doctor’s advice. Please do not do that!

If you are in the care of a physician, continue to do what you have been instructed. But, ask God for His guidance in this area, and use good judgement. Sometimes we find new answers to our problems while being treated by a physician.

Throughout the Bible, there are examples of physical healing.  In Luke 5, Jesus cleansed a leper, and healed a paralytic. In Luke chapter 8, a woman was healed from a long battle of illness in her body. Jesus healed the blind man on the roadside in chapter 18.

They all came to Jesus for help.

We can take from these examples that God is in the business of healing. I encourage you to continue to pray consistently for the things that you need healing from.

I have friends that have long term health problems. I know people who have battled cancer, and I know families who have lost loved ones due to sickness. I know for some people this can be a very sensitive topic. It is a difficult and long conversation why things happen the way they do, and that is not the point of this post today. I cannot say that I understand the reasons that some people experience healing and some people do not. Let’s simply focus on the things that we can do when it comes to healing.

God tells us to bring our needs to Him in prayer and that is something I believe in strongly. We can pray for strength to handle whatever situation we are in. We can pray for wisdom about how to move forward in our treatment and care. And, still, we can pray that God would heal us.

Dear God,

I ask that you keep my body healthy. Lord, I have some pains in my body today that you know I have. I ask that you heal whatever is causing those pains. I also pray today for my loved ones. You know their struggles with their health. I ask that you would please go into their bodies and heal each their issues. God, I ask that you please give wisdom and guidance to the people I care so much about, and provide them with the means to see the doctors they need to see. Lord, in the Bible, there are so many examples of your healing power. I ask today that you bring healing to those that need it, and the strength and perseverance for us to live healthy lives.

Amen
